“Look at my writing, Mama. Isn’t it beautiful?” My heart rejoiced hearing those words flow out of my daughter’s mouth as she did her homework. My heart was awakened on several levels. One is that, it is every parent’s wish for their children to love themselves and hearing her acknowledge her own accomplishment fulfilled that desire in me. Almost immediately, my heart paused with a wanting and a hoping for her to hold onto that confidence and preserve that self-admiration.
