When we face adversity and when we find ourselves in a struggle, it can be tempting to focus on our pain. During the struggle, when the pain and discomfort is so great, it is only natural to wish to be rescued and to want the struggle to end. As we flounder in the struggle, we get tired and weak and feel like giving up. It’s during those moments that we must remember our struggle has a purpose.

“I don’t have anything to say. I’ve lost my inspiration. I’m stuck. I’m bored.” These were some of the thoughts that were getting in the way of me writing this morning’s motivation. When thoughts like these show up, I too often don’t even hear them. Instead I just notice my lack of action or I notice that I feel stuck and have low energy.

One of the great things about going through tough times is the reminder and realization of the rocks in our lives. The rocks in our lives are the people that are there for us through our up’s and our down’s, through both our victory’s and our defeat’s. They are the people that don’t just say what we want to hear; they say what we NEED to hear and they say it with love, rather than criticism. They are our encouragers. They are our vision holders.
