Contribution

Where is your focus? Is it on survival, on your own wants and needs?  Naturally, yes. Without effort, we focus on our own needs. It takes an effort to shift that attention off us and onto others. What happens when we shift our attention on contributing to others? We create both abundance and fulfillment and ultimately, our needs get met. In the midst of our needs, how can we shift our attention onto others? Well, it starts by considering, “What can I contribute and who can I help?” Contribution is a mindset. It is a way of thinking. Despite your needs, there are always others that you can contribute to.

I have been in some form of a sales capacity most of my career and I have experienced contrasting sales energies. One is the energy to make sales, to hit goals, to accomplish my focus and my gain. The other is much more rewarding and productive and that is to be in an energy of contributing to others. Zig Ziglar’s quote; “If you help enough other people get what they want, you will get what you want “is so true.

In the process of using our resources, gifts, talents, and strengths to better others, without effort or attention, our needs will be met in abundance. It simply takes a decision to turn your attention to others and develop the habit of contribution. It is a way of life free from scarcity and abundant in blessing.

Let go of scarcity. Let go of the thoughts and concerns of how your wants and needs will be met and put your energy into contributing to others. Abundance and prosperity will overflow in every area of your life. It is a spiritual law- give and it shall be given. Just like gravity, what goes up must come down, when you contribute to others, your needs will be more than met.

Take a moment right now and answer the following questions. What can I contribute and whom can I help? Then take action. As you contribute to others, watch your needs be met in great abundance.
