“There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.”John F. Kennedy
It’s much easier to fully commit to a decision than safely take baby steps towards it. That is the typical thought, only after the action has been made. Often we vacillate over something for so long before taking action, and when we finally get moving, we wonder, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?” It takes courage to get into action. Too often, we are waiting and hoping for everything to be ready and prepared to take action, and that day never comes. We must use our hope to develop our courage.
Most often, the door in front of us won’t open until we close the door behind us. One of the worst places to be is in limbo, in the safe zone, in the land of good intentions, where everything is fine but not great. We are hoping and waiting for the right timing to step into our dream, but it feels risky, so we wait. Andy Andrews talks about how an undecided heart stops you from taking action and robs your life of fulfillment.
You know that saying, “When one door closes, another one opens.” Do you see the order? First, the door closes, then the other opens. Too often, we are waiting for a door to open before taking action. Many people live waiting for the door to open, but we must recognize when it is our time to take action. It’s that place of fearlessness when true courage takes over, and you fully commit your heart, and the actions follow. Where in your life are you playing it safe?
Where are you holding back from putting in full commitment?
Access your courage. You have it there, available for use. With courage, you can do anything you choose. No more playing it safe. Take courage. Take action. You will be so glad you did!
