It is week twelve of 2016. By now many have forgotten their goals and resolutions for the year.
Today’s message is a reminder that positive change is not going to happen on accident. Positive change, especially big change, requires persistency and tenacity.
Every year I set goals and every year, at some point, I get off track, lose touch or lose heart with my goals, especially when roadblocks and oppositions come. Just this past weekend I experienced a tremendous amount of discouragement with some of my BIG goals. I let the discouragement get in me. I did some complaining, had several pity parties, and flirted with the idea of giving up, but then I remembered why my goals are so important to me. And though, I am still wrestling with the lack of hope and the pains of discouragement, I have made the decision that I will not give up. I will keep going and refocus my attention on the finish line, not on the obstacles.
Giving up is a one time decision. Once we give up and throw in the towel; it’s done. We’ve lost the battle, but choosing to stay in the game is a decision we make again and again. That is the tenacity and persistency that I was talking about. We must get good at deciding we are going to keep going and keep moving ahead.
If you set some goals for this year and have gotten off track or have forgotten them, that’s okay. You are not alone. Recognize and get back in touch with those goals. That is one step of persistency. Rekindle your mind on the reasons why your goals are so important to you. That is another step of tenacity. Post your goals up some place visible. Do everything you can to stay encouraged and stay in the game of achieving your goals.
The only difference between the people who achieve their goals and the ones who do not, is the persistency and tenacity of not giving up!
I want to encourage you today. Do not give up. Do not give in. If your goal is important to you and you keep your focus on the reasons why, you will find that inner tenacity and persistency that will lead you step by step to the finish line.
Stay in the game. Keep your focus, and decide again and again that you are in it to win it! Have a great week!
